RUE Anti-Immigration March in Tartu
Protests against mass immigration have become quite common in all Europe but especially in those countries most recent to join the EU.
BBC etc would have us believe they are organised by some kinds of extremists. This one, in Tartu, could not be described in any such way - and is probably quite typical.
The event was organised by RUE, the party led by Kristiina Ojuland. And this is just not an extremist party. Kristiina Ojuland held high office, being Foreign Secretary, and was a member of the liberal Reform Party and sitting in ALDR liberal democrat group when she was an MEP. Some people do not like Ojuland for all kinds of reasons but they are the reasons people have for disliking any well-known politician.
The turnout was massive for this event. There is something sad here. These same faces with these same flags, twenty years ago, were so full of hope as they paraded and sang their way to emmancipation from the USSR. Now look, the faces are of disappointment and anxiety. Small nations whose whole history has been a story of oppression and slavery have had their hopes threatened by an EU many saw as the guarantor of all their hopes. This is a grand betrayal.

The EU, Germany, has allowed millions of migrants into Europe and now is uncertain what to do. One solution is to fill the counties and parishes emptied by the mobility of labour doctrine of the EU with the incomers: depopulation followed by invasion.
These are just ordinary people with the oldest of fears. There are only about one million Estonians. Why should they be destroyed?
Fortunately, there are people of courage and honesty who will not be detered by insulting words, intimidation and exclusion from all the best gravy trains.
